  • Centre constitutes BN Talukar committee to probe the inordinate delay in oil and gas generation in ONGC's Krishna Godavari basin KG-D5 block.  
    • The panel is expected to submit its report by the end of October 2014.
    • The KG-D5 was allotted to ONGC at the same time as the neighbouring KG-D6 block was given to Reliance Industries (RIL).
    • While RIL has started oil and gas production beginning 2009; ONGC is just in the discovery-phase.
    • As per ONGC estimate, the KG-D5 block will produce up to 90000 barrels per day starting 2019.

  • Kotak Mahindra Bank rolls out Facebook-based money transfer platform KayPay.  

    How it works 
    • Both the party, sender and receiver. should first register their account on Kaypay.
    • The whole transaction will be free of any surplus charges.
    • One can transfer upto 2500 rupees per transaction whereas there is a maximum limit of 25000 rupees a month for sending.
