Goodbye is a word that word we use to express when we part, it is used as an acknowledgement of parting. This word originated from the phrase. "god be with ye".
The first recorded use of goodbye is contained in a letter written by Gabriel Harvey
.It reads "To requite your gllonde of godbwyes, I regive you a pottle of howdyes"
God has been replaced with good by analogy with other expressions like good day,goodnight goood morning etc,
